I understand your question Ted. Depends on a couple of things. A pic rail usually has more weight and if you are shooting a RFBR class that has weight restrictions, that could be an issue. If shooting an Unlimited class, the rail can be preferable. They are easier to mount correctly if the receiver is drilled and tapped for the specific rail. If you have a reticle leveling tool, like the Arisaka, they are needed for use of the tool. There is also a wider selection of rings available. Both of my Unlimited rifles have pic rails and steel QD rings.which is better for 22rf br. rail or blocks @ why .
