Carbon Ring

I’d like to see those factory tests. Where are they? And 40 years ago. Maybe Olympic, International guys have that data?
When I started NRA Smallbore 3 position in mid 1970s.
And my father acquired a 54 super match rifle for me.
Straight from Anschutz, was stated.
"Do not clean the barrel with anything except a oiled patch"
No solvent
No brush
No soaking
And suggested barrel life before any measurable decrease in accuracy was from thier testing 70000 rounds.

Winchester during the 52 series development with the B variations had records on file of 10 shot , sub 2 inch groups and actually as small as 1 1/4".
There was no "carbon cleaner" developed at that time.
Nore was there bore scopes.

And eley has done ammo testing for well over 125 years.

Im sure, data can be had.

The only place I'm getting a carbon ring build up is on the bottom side of the chamber . Any idea why ? 22RF barrel .
LOL LOL

OK Riddle me this
On our CZ MTR's they build up at the Top of the bore on the carbon ring
You do the regular chamber clean and the top of the chamber is where build up is the most and takes more to get it out
I was inclined to think that the rise on the stock angled my cleaning brush but....a fresh bronze brush is big enough to overcome that tiny bit of angle
Who knows??

Bore scopes cause a lot of thinking .....( and guessing)

While your new bud drones on you might educate him as to what that ring does in a taper lapped match barrel…..you know, the ones they never had in the 70’s.
You get what you give.
And as you seem to make of point if disrespecting others with your comments.

Ill add this.

As the "in your own mind expert"
Tapered hand finished bores were first used by Americans, in the Kentucky long rifles.
As well as heavily usec by the german sniper rifle manufacturer in WWII.
So yes
You ARE WRONG and misinformed and spreading ignorance about our sport with bad advice.
I hope administration understands this isnt a attack against a member.
Just a EDUCATIONAL bit of FACTS.

Have a good evening friend and good shooting
