Scope mount advice wanted

Never ran across these before. The price got my attention, but then (to me) these mounts provide both vertical and horizontal adj? This would or could take the place or add MORE to an angled rail? Am I seeing this correctly?

yea they add like 150moa to the puny 20 that some have.

I only have mounts from Spuhr and LaRue. The Spuhr are out of your desired price range. My opinion LaRue Tactical makes great scope mounts which list price around $214 after you deduct $50 for not having the quick-detach levers, which you said you didn’t want. Great company to deal with also. They throw in a lot of fun SWAG with every order, but some of the other options mentioned above are cheaper and maybe just as good for your application.

Did you use a torque wrench to install what you have? Too light and you’ll have a loose scope, too heavy and you’ll break the screws or the mount or even worse, collapse a scope tube. Wheeler Engineering has a good one a lot of people use called the FAT Wrench. You can find torque values for a lot of mounts and scopes here: http://precisionrifleblog.com/2013/03/22/rifle-screw-torque-settings-specifications/

6 or 5 finally got it right. The guy has an AR 10 why would he need a EGW rail? LR308 = DPMS AR 10. I am kinda old school and I like the Burris rings but to use them on an AR you need a riser. The mounts that 6 or 5 linked you to are a good (probably better way than I use ) way to mount and I think he has lead you the best way. Many companies make them, look around and find something you like. AR 15.com might be a good place to see what everyone is using. Not a follow the leader thing but like the Burris rings some times some one company will make a better product that is inexpensive also.

I understand that a lot of people are going to the rail mounts and you can get them with 20MOA rise in 1" or 30mm. If you go with rings alone there are a lot of people that make good stuff. If you do go with just rings you might think about lapping the rings in to assure that they are not binding the scope when you tighten them down.

This is a mount for my DPMS LR 308 Flat top (AR 10) All the mount screws, etc previously in use have been properly torqued and blue loctite has been used. I just think that the mount was not as strong as it should be.
I have learned a lot about good quality mounts / rails from the many experienced and knowledgeable folks that have shared their information with me and I thank them. I also think that I will spend more than my previous budget of $100.00
Thanks gentlemen for your advice.
