Scope level to ground or target?

So, I guess, don't hold off on the numbers - use the reticle on the scope?

In any case, how would you know how much to adjust the cant of the scope before you got to the range? And, if you did, the POI is not going to track with the lines on the target because canting a rifle has it's own change in POI not related to the line on the target.

yes and especially yes

I think OPs intuitive 'solution' would work zeroing a laser beam but dealing with trajectory and height over bore it just causes additional problems

Match level of your stock and gun. When on the range level your gun to true level of your scope. It does not matter what the target or berm level is.

The numbers give you an aim point rather than aiming at an imaginary point of the target. I only adjust the cant when I’m looking through the scope at the target and line it up with the horizontal numbers. But, this may not be level to the earth exactly. This only applies to holding off.

Put the bubble-leveled true horizontal reticle on the x and the vertical reticle on the number.
If the target is level the cross will be on the number.
If the cross is above or below the number you prove the target isn't level.

The E target MR1-FC has both horizontal numbers and cross hairs.
Listen to what Jenn is telling you, the NEW MR1-FC target has one set of numbers and they run straight up vertically from the X.

Cross hairs? What are cross hairs? On a target? This is like the gift that keeps on giving.

Is there a standard layout?
I thought NRA specified ring size and face layout was up to makers and could be different in detail and still official.

There seem to be a fair number with horizontal numbers that only run center to right.

I have not seen anything official on new F Class targets. That would change things quite a bit regarding aiming off with no horizontal numbers. Medic, I didn’t mean to confuse you with the cross hair description. I don’t appreciate your patronizing tone. This site is supposed to be helpful and supportive.

So you believe there is exactly one official legal format?
Older stock is now invalid?
A manufacturer can't make MR1s to other patterns that have been used?
All I know is this. The National Championships I've shot since the New MR 1 FC was made the standard, the numbers have ran vertically.

Half of this thread is a prime example of what E targets has brought to F Class.

It's not about winners anymore. It's whiners

Winter doesn't have anything to do with it Warren. F Class was a better place before "we grew the sport".
