Scope ideas please

Hey guys picked up a little Savage bolt gun in a .17 WSM, like to know what your ideas might be for a scope with a budget of around 300. Thanks

With that kind of budget your choices are limited. I would point you toward a used scope with a lifetime warranty. The Bushnell Elite 4200 immediately comes to mind. They are a very good scope and have an excellent warranty. They show up here frequently in 6x24 in the neighborhood of $300 or a bit less. I have had 6 of them and still own 4. Good scopes.

Need a little more info. What will the rifle be used for? Are you a high magnification kind of guy, or are you looking for a 4-12 for instance? Do you plan to twist turrets, or do you like a BDC type reticle, or a mildot or ?

Is that the rimfire ? If so, I have the 17 hmr and they make caliber specific scopes that are calibrated out to 300 yards. Calibration isn't perfect but they do work well with very little adjustment. Just an idea. Mine is a BSA which isn't anything close to sightron but for a 350.00 gun, it's perfect.

A scope to consider is a "vortex diamond hp" 3x12 $300.00. The hp has side focus and a bdc type reticle. Some guys don't like the vortex line but I got one to try and it has worked out very well. I put it on a 20vt and have killed over 150 groundhogs with it this year out to just over 400 yds. Check them out they come with a good warranty.

I have a weaver T10 (aluminum Japanese) target scope, FCH, all knobs and caps, maybe box if I can find it, $300. Good scope, focus down to 33 feet, looks like a T24 or T36 but only a 10X, perfect for powerful rimfire, or good target/squirrel/pd rimfire

Great solution, this. IF you can find one. Some of the old Japanese Tasco scopes are very nice indeed.
