Scope for 500-600 yards on elk?

And the reticle is seeable/useable from the lowest to the highest magnification (FFP).
If that is a concern, there are ATACR models available in SFP and FFP.

I have been running FFP scopes for over a decade. At the lowest magnification, seeing the reticle clearly is typically not a thing I am concerned with. What is far more of a concern is that if I use the reticle for holding elevation, I do not have to worry what magnification level the scope is set for.

The ATACR is what I was basing my comment on.

Sig Sauer has a bunch of models in the Whiskey 4 line, hunter moa reticle. Illuminated/non, zero lock elevation turrent, ffp, sfp. 12x,16x,20x top ends.
Life time transferring warranty, no registration needed.

I would get nothing less than a 25x on top end, I have 2-NX8 4x32 and I would have nothing else for shooting 500 and beyond.
I shoot alot at 650-700 putting a 3"black dot with a 1.5 white one in the middle of the black one i can zero in on the 1.5 white one at 665 with the little dot on the reticle during load development its impossible to do that on a 15 or 18 power it completely covers the 3" black dot im struggling doing seating work on my nephews 6.5x06AI with his 3x15 im about to jerk it off and put one of my 4x32 on it. How do you aim small and shoot small if you can't see a 3" circle.
Scope power is like a weapon id rather have it than not.

Want a cheap ish scope that you can literally throw on the ground and it’ll still work? Swiffer aka SWFA 3x15. Variety of turret options in the box. Turrets might still be a little tall but beggars can’t be choosers. Great simple hunting reticle that works from low to high power. I’d recommend the 3x9 as well but you can’t get them right now.

Truth be told, I've never had or even looked through anything with SWFA glass. So i'm asking the brain trust here. I really like their turret options!
How is their glass (clarity-light transmission-etc)?
How do they stand up to recoil?

I no longer hunt any big game, so durability in the field isn't that big of an issue, but have had turrets move on me while hunting (yes, Murphy has me on speed dial) & vowed to never take anything with exposed turrets hunting big game again. With the multiple dot systems I test each dots actual distance with the load to be used in as close to expected hunting temps & conditions as I can.

I've used most common hunting/target scopes over the last 50+ years. Weaver, Bushnell, Redfield, Leupold, Baush & Lomb, Vortex, Sightron, Nightforce. Nearly all of my hunting these days is paper, steel and prairie dogs.

Admin's, if this would be better served in a new thread, feel free to move it or let me know & i'll start anew.

Glass isn't the best but it's not anywhere near the worst. The HD line when you can get them are better. They are completely functional in the field as far as glass goes. All of them have a bit of a built in sunshade via a longish front ring.

They have no issues with recoil or as I said literally throwing them on the ground and they'll still work. I am not joking with that statement. I use a 3x15 on a big smokeless muzzleloader with no zero retention issues.

Big Stick doing Big Stick things o_O

Basically any of these suggestions will work fine, we all have our favorite brands.....

With a $2000 budget you will get a great scope, just decide on the features you want!
