Scope choice for 223 Sako for general use

I have a friend who wants to move from 4-12 redfield in 40mm to something more clear with a better reticle for shooting in general and not competition shooting.

Any suggestions???

Sightron s tac scope 2.5x17.5x56mm with illuminated moa. Won't break the bank. Have this on Barnard 223rem ftr rifle for 300yd reduced course league. My .02 cents. Steve

I use Leupold VX-2's 6-18x40mm on my 223's. The 18x is enough to do some fine tuning on targets and then I turn it down to 10 for shooting gophers and prairie dogs, a nice all around combo that can be found relatively cheap.

On the reticle tracking tests, the Bushnell Elite 6500 series is second only to the NightForce line. Pick one of those, or any of the others mentioned above. Lots of good optics out there. I'd rather have flawless tracking than a better view. The Minox Schott glass scopes are likewise awesome for the price, and the view through them is second to none. All 3 of those have lifetime warranties, IIRC.

Zeiss conquest.

Their 3-9 power is really reasonable, I use their 20 power varmint reticle scopes on a few......

Phil.

For power and clarity I am always bringing my eyes to Leupold they make some of the best glass out there. I was tight on funds on my current build and went Nikon Prostaf no complaints except in low light where it's my eyes not really the scopes fault!
