Scope Bases-What Are These

Hello All,

Anyone recognize these bases? wondering if these bases are okay to use for bench rest shooting? If so, any thoughts on rings to use with them? I don't have any lapping tools so I was hoping to find rings that would work without that step...but, I don't want to sacrifice accuracy/consistency either so just tell me the right thing to do please. The scope going on a is a 1" Weaver T36x40...Thanks

They look like Stolle/Kelbly Dovetail Bases, at a guess without a measurement.

Maybe Kelbly Rings to suit.

Hard to tell without dimensions, but they look like Davidson-style bases, in which case you could use Kelbly rings or other manufacturers who make a ring to fit that style base.

Similar to these by PMA tool:

I thought most of the dovetail were just like the olld unertyl bases and kelbly rings, jewell rings, etc etc etc etc all fit.

Assuming I can use Kelbly rings, any suggestions on the height needed? I believe Kelbly has 2 sizes a 1.1ish(short) and a 1.5ish(tall) to center of scope.

IMO, height is a personal preference. If you just need to figure out the minimum to clear, you can use a formula like this:

mount height + ring height - (bell diameter / 2)

where "mount height" is the distance from the top of your rail to the barrel, and "ring height" is the measurement from the middle of the rings to the bottom of the rings where they rest on the base. When looking at rings, I think most of the heights are listed in the correct measurement, but you should verify how they are measuring the height of their rings.

A positive number will clear and it's up to you how much clearance you want. You should also factor in your cheek weld and eye placement to pick the right height.

For Benchrest I like to keep my head as vertical as I can so use the tallest rings possible. I do not use any cheek weld so stay away from leaning over the stock as happens with low rings. Each to their own.

I use March-X Scopes, 8-80x56mm & 10-60x52mm.
