Waaaaay easier than cutting the patches.

That is the way I do it.

When patching, after the real bad stuff does anyone besides me catch the patch and turn it around to reuse the clean side?

Yes, I was tought that you can use a patch four times.

1. Buy the correct size patch
2. Buy a jag that will make your patch the correct one
3. Use a rotary cutter sold in sewing shops.

5. Stick the patch "off-center" to make it work.

Brownell's; I've been buying them there for years. They have several different ones but the regular (not heavy duty) 100% cotton flannel square work best for me. I regularly use a lot of patches of varying sizes. I couldn't imagine cutting my own. If you don't need many patches, I guess the scissor method would be okay.

Yeah. But only for patches I take off to check it out. Otherwise, it drops into the great patch hole.

Exactly. Well stated. If the patch is black, I don't reuse. Near the end when only a few marks on the patch are showing up, that's when I flip them.

Pro tip: poke the patch off center if it's too tight.

I have been using paper towel, toilet paper, and, most recently, Scott shop towels (the blue ones) for patches, for the past fifty years or so. I use P-H jags. WH
