School me on BR scopes

I'll start by saying I do not shoot benchrest or F class so I'm not up to speed on those disciplines. I used to shoot a lot of PRS and still do shoot some locally, so my gear is setup more for that.

I've been using a Vortex Viper PST Gen II for a long time and it's served me well, but have recently been shopping around for something with better glass.

I've found some decent deals on used scopes, then find out they don't have zero stops. The more I look, I'm realizing that none of the scopes geared towards BR have zero stops and I've been scratching my head wondering why a $2500 scope wouldn't have something as simple as a zero stop. Is this a BR/f class thing where a zero stop is in some way a hinderence? What are you BR guys doing, counting clicks like a peasant? Lol. I just can't imagine not having a zero stop. I'm not really worried about ranging anymore, so FFP isn't required, but a zero stop feels like a necessity.

Usually you shoot specific distances. As many as 4 different distances. Once you learn to read the markings on the scope there is no counting clicks or counting moa. You just turn to the correct setting for that distance and shoot. There's no need for a zero stop.

So are you pretty much shooting at one distance for
Depending on how the match is being put on.
Some shoot all the 100 yard disciplines one day and the 200 yard the next.
In benchrest you can shoot as many sighters as you need. As long as you get 5 shots on Record in the given time limit.

Gotcha. I guess that makes sense as long as you aren't going past one full revolution. If it's past one revolution, my dumbass would pack up for the day without setting it back and forget where zero is.

actually some of the nightforce scopes have zero stops...so good i am spoiled.
but short range..no one cares, go long range and i assume f also..stops are great

Most br scopes have numbers on the barrel and on the turret. Going past one revolution is not a problem. Also write your numbers down.

"0" on turret-100yds
7clicks-200 yd zero
17 clicks -300 yd zero
Turret set at "0" for 100 yds, just turn back to "0" pretty simple.you will find out how many clicks to get you to next yardage using your load load. Bench time teaches you,not sitting in front of the forum. Pick the brains on the forum then go do the time to fine tune....
