I thought others might find this info interesting
We shoot 50 yd ARA 22--so we had 25 MOA rails for when we do longer shooting ranges
We had been using 34mm scopes with miles of travel so zero issues
We started using Nightforce BR scopes because we LOVE the DD reticle --These scopes have pretty limited amount of elevation but were fine with 25 MOA rail allowing us to zero at 50 with no problems
So...we go to install another yesterday on a CZ with a 30 MOA rail and we were at the limit of down travel and still above the bulls eye a tad
Ordered another 25 MOA rail then got to thinking about having the travel so close to the limit and would that be "bad" for the scope--
So...called Nightforce tech --he said it was OK if we have to run them that way--they used Titanium springs that would not mind at all! He said that was a great question and was glad I called but said No Worry..
So I slept better knowing I was not damaging my new $$ Nightforce and thought I would pass this tidbit along
I would have just caved in and run less MOA even a zero but we use these rifles in Long Gong and other long range matches where with a 22LR we Need all the elevation we can get. Like I said big tube/ tons of travel eliminates this issue it is just we Love the BR 12-42 scopes and they are very limited compared to most modern scopes.
