Schmidt & Bender owners- A question for you.

I own a couple NXS and a USO and I am happy with both.... However I always hear about the S&B line and they always seem to be the apex of the shooting world. For the price they ought to be. I was going purchase a PMII until I started to look into the warranty. I was VERY shocked to hear that they only have a 2 year warranty. Is that correct and has anyone ever had to send one off for service?? Will anyone work on them in the U.S.? Thank you for your time.

Perhaps they have reworded the warranty. Wasn't it 10 years? Does a Ferrari have a better/longer warranty than a Corvette, even though it is much more expensive? S&B produces great scopes.

I've had a few of them and they're really great scopes! I'd still have one if they made 55 to 60 power, the glass is some of the best in the industry IMHO.
Warranty, I wouldn't worry about it, if it's abused it's probably not going to be covered anyway and customer service for minor stuff, ( adjusting parallax ) they'll do out of warranty at NC, and have it back to you in less then 10 days, ask me how I know that.:)

They have a 12x50. Matt

I have owned 4 different S&B scopes...including the two I have now, one of which is a PMII the other is on one of my most used hunting rifles and is now 15 years old. I would honestly care less about whatever the warranty is...you are never going to have to use it. Any gear or equipment that can stay with me in the woods for 15 years and still work is a miracle!!!!! Honestly, it is about the only thing I own that has lasted that long. It aint pretty anymore having fell out of treestands and slid down mountains, but it still works perfectly.

You shouldnt ever need the warrenty anyways. They are that good. It Dont bother me... however i have steiners too and they havexa lifetime warrenty. S&b military and steiner military both have the german glass... its unbeatable.

I have a 5-25 PMII illuminated with MSR reticle I'm about to unload. 43 rounds on the scope, GREAT scope, but it's the most logical place to procure funds for the new project. The Mrs. says "buy whatever you want, but you've got to sell something first." Incidentally, the scope replacing it is also a SB that I already own. The only thing that will disappoint you is the price. PM me if you're interested in the scope, and however you go, good luck and God bless.

God bless America

S&B just updated their warranty to something like 20 years to compete with others in the industry. Not as good as a Vortex warranty but like others have said, you'll probably never need to use it.

Another option is Brownells just started carrying them. Their lifetime satisfaction warranty covers any product they sell.

What kind of warranty do you have on your $$$$ custom rifle:rolleyes:

That is a VERY good point. However, if I could get some kind of warranty I would most likely try to obtain it. I do believe that the best warranty is the one you never use. I had to send one of my Night Forces in for service so even top of the line scopes can have a issue. I do think that the S&B is a better quality scope than my NF but that is another discussion.

Thank you gentlemen for all your intel.

And want makes you think THAT? Tuesday you post and ask about them and 3 days later you think they are better. There has to be a reason you think that. Matt

S&B scopes are warranted, but not with a lifetime warranty. We pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a new house, and receive a 1-2 year warranty. I'll take quality over warranty, every time.

S&B scopes aren't made by the hands of God. They do have issues. Having a good warranty is a good thing. I have owned 7 or 8 of them and used them in PRS matches up to around 2012. I run Vortex Razor II 4.5-27x scopes now. Honestly i like them better in the reticle and the knobs. Glass is basically identical to S&B and I have had 5 or 6 guys look through mine side by side on different days.
