Sb p4fine reticle question

Wondering how people like the sb p4f reticle. I am not a benchrest shooter, But I like zooming in to higher powers at 200yrds. Problem is, my Steiner 5-25 military with the msr reticle, when zoomed the cross hairs completely cover the bullseye by a lot. I love the scope, but not really suitable for close up target shooting.

I was considering the sb 12-50 with the p4f reticle as a hybrid scope for tactical/long range/playing with benchrest scope. I do not want a fixed benchrest scope.

Does anybody know what the center crosshairs look like at 200 on a small bulls eye?

I have only used the P4F on a FFP 5-25x and had no issues shooting small targets as the reticle is not overly thick. The P4F is a little thinner though at .03 mils vs the .05 mils of the MSR for line width. So might work out for you.

So the targets I use are hornady lock and loads shoot n see. I like them. The bullseye is a 3/8 diamond shape. I joined a range that has a 200 yrd range. At 200, the cross hairs cover the diamond completely. I was looking at the Schmidt bender 12-50x56 pmii with p4fine reticle. I want something that would work as a tactical/benchrest scope so I could have both in one without having to buy strictly a benchrest scope, but I’m afraid at higher powers, the crosshairs would still cover the bullseye

It's tough to make one scope do everything especially in such different sports. That scope will do well as a benchrest scope but in PRS style shooting or if using the reticle for holds the SFP will hurt. With a .03 mil thick reticle the lines will cover about .2" at 200 yards but only on the power it is set to subtend correctly.

Maybe look for a different reticle design and brand scope? Something with an open center or small dot? Or get the FFP version of the S&B 12-50 with the P4F.

Think I may go with the vortex razor gen ii. The ebr-2c reticle has an open center. The sb May be decent at 200, but when zoomed in, I’m afraid I will have the same problem

The 2C reticle works great. Have it in a number of scopes. I can drop a 3/8" dot in the center at 100 yards without issue so should be no problem at 200. Here's a horrible pic of the reticle I took but it gives you an idea. I am not good at pics though the scope. Sorry.

Thanks Rob. You have been incredibly helpful. It is more for a tactical rifle, But I have been going to some benchrest matches and have a great interest in it. I can play with it on my rifle till o get a actual benchrest rifle with a br scope.
