Anyone Use a ''LEUPOLD DOT'' Reticle On Prairie Dogs

Does anyone here have ACTUAL experience shooting prairie dogs using LEUPOLD DOT RETICLE in their scope?
l have used a LEUPOLD DOT with fine crosshairs, fine cross hairs, and fine Duplex. NEVER a LEUPOLD DOT.
Less clutter is BEST for me.

Thanks

I had the Leupold Dot reticle in two scopes....a 12X and a 6.5-20. Both scopes did double duty on 'dog guns and fox/coyote hunting rigs. As installed by Leupold, the dot is 3/8" at max power. I liked the reticles a lot, at that time.

With the closure of Leupold's Custom Shop, your options for getting that reticle installed are few, if any. Ackerman's might be able to do it.

For 'dog use now, my preference is the MOA reticle in the S-Tac 4-20 and 3-16's. Effective hash marks w/o being too busy or cluttered.

Good shootin' :) -Al

I didn't know any other way. Leupold fix 12x with a dot. or a variable.
To much power and you will not see the affect down range. And its more of a challenge to find dogs going from binoculars to scope.

I have had the Leupold Target Dot reticle on my prairie dog rifles for over 25 years. Mostly the 6.5 to20 or the 8.5to 25 scopes. I loved them. Then I discovered the Nightforce NP2DD reticle on an 8 to 32 NXS model. I put that scope on my 6BR and on my 22-250. More power is better, and the broad horizontal lines help you find the dot quickly.

Have a 35yr old 3.5-10x50 Leupold I've used on .22's and my 218Bee, with the dot reticle, no issues with it, I use the 6;00 hold when I set it up, Shot a pile of gophers with it over the years.
