Huhh?? I've got 4 swiveling casters under my Bridgeport..... and a lathe, and 7 other rollarounds including a mill/drill set up at eyeball ht.....and I leave them on all the time. I can roll my mill away to clean under it.
Yep. I'd appreciate it if no one on here ever asks to use my Johnson for heavy equipment. Been there, done that. There might have been tequila involved! Lol!We call a Johnson bar ! a bar Nelson LOL
Johnson had the money, jones was broke so Johnson bought the bar and everybody came there for happy hour. A guy took a piece of wood stuck some wheels on it and moved the juke box in so it became a Johnson bar and it all happened at Johnson’s barWhy did johnson get a bar? Why not a jones bar?
It would take some kind of spirits for me to do that job toYep. I'd appreciate it if no one on here ever asks to use my Johnson for heavy equipment. Been there, done that. There might have been tequila involved! Lol!
Doin' it and talking about it are two different things! Never let your friends see you ride a moped or a fat chick. That's all I have to say about that.It would take some kind of spirits for me to do that job to![]()
I don't do "level." I do square. Square exists on any plane. And "square" is a moving target, the lathe is capable of being squared unto itself. If you leave the machines on casters 24/7 how do you keep them level? Even lagged down to my garage floor, the machines need releved as the seasons change

The lathe that's movable is a shorty.
Traveling lathes, shipboard lathes, even lathes on wooden floors ALL can and have for a hundred years turned out top-notch one-off work.
This is all I do, proto/one-off work.
Obviously production machines aren't in this category.
Take a look at some of the machine shops at the nuke plantsIt would scare most machinists to see how a lathe is mounted in a navy ship.
Oh yeah, I would not sell ANY parts that came with it until you are CERTAIN you will not use them. (5-6 years from now) seriously you would be amazed at what you will find a use for. Trust me.
Unless you want to sell them to me?? LOL.
Cool. Could you get some pics? Or do you think that he’d make another set for fun and profit? I’d like to have a DRO.A buddy of mine made some mounts on his mill to attach a dro to his heavy10 it's pretty slick
