Savage Shooters

I have a factory model 12 FV. Bought new from a pawn shop. Dont know why it is but its trigger is every bit as light as my target red blades, probably lighter. I have another fv action and it is no different than any other savage varmint rifle. I’m just glad I’m one that likes their accutrigger.

I have a rifle basics in my mod 12. It is set at 5 ounces right now. I had it lower but had to be careful closing the bolt too hard. 5 ounces is ok with me.

First let me say, that this rifle and all my other production rifles were taken to my smith to have basic accuracy work done (actions bedded, triggers either worked or replaced and rings lapped). I decided to try the RB trigger in both a 110 and the 12. When I got them back, both had huge side-to-side slop, and the overall trigger just didn't feel like quality to me. I call RB and they said there shouldn't be any side-to-side movement. He said he would mail me out a shim kit. BTW- RB really stepped up here and did what they could during all this. Then one day I decided to check it again and this is where I found something really weird. I had the rifle completely vertical with me holding the grip and the buttstock on the bench, I bumped the trigger with my forefinger and the safety came off. I did this several times and got the same results. Each time the trigger had serious take-up and a lot of play. The shims had not been put in at this time. IDK, but that's when I decided to throw the towel in and go with another brand, hence the post.
Mike. Don’t give up on the RB just yet. It is a very nice trigger and repeatable once it is set.

The shims help out a ton, whether it’s a RB, factory AT, etc., but It looks to me like your issue here is that the trigger was simply out of adjustment. Especially if the safety falls by itself. That was way out of adjustment. And if that is then the rest probably was as well. Set it step by step per their instructions and then add a dab of medium loktite to hold the screws in place.
I have had multiples of every trigger offered for a Savage except the Jard. The RB SAV1 or SAV2 are what I normally use depending on intended use. On my target actions they are either the Sav2 or the factory red blade trigger. All used with a shim kit.

I have A Savage #12 with a Basix trigger at 8oz No problems and the gun really shoots great , no reason to change . Can't find my last target.

Good news for Savage shooters. Bix n Andy now has the Savage trigger listed on their website as coming soon. They showed the prototype at the 2024 Shot show but are just now getting it into production. It won't be cheap, but it will be good.

Won't be cheap is right! But sometimes money has to be spent where needed. Just went to their site, the info on it seems to be wrong on that trigger. This trumps all others IMHO.
