savage refit to longer box mag?

I have a savage long action with a 2.8' box magazine. Would it be possible to have the action cut out extended and fitted with a 30-06 length magazine or would this not be wise? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a Savage 110 in 300 win mag that the magazine box is a little short too. I can only get a case o.a.l. of 3.420 I would like to have it long enough to accept 3.650. I would also like to know if this can be done.
