Savage question

For those in the know re: Savage. Trying to identify a model 12 in 6.5 Creedmore as to whether or not it is the "LRP" version. It is not marked as to that, and I can not dismantle the rifle to positively determine if it is the HS stock, but it appears to be. Is there any markings anywhere to help with identification?

Yup, call Savage. They don't mark the exact model (only "12" on the barrel, which doesn't help if it's not the original barrel), so unless you can positively identify by features you're going to spend way too much effort on it, while they can just look up the SN. About the only ones I could positively identify are the 12fv, 10t, and hog hunter, anything else I'd be calling if I needed to know.

The single most definitive feature is that it has a small ejection port the the target actions. Essentially, it’s a target action that is also a repeater.

While all the Savage guys are here I would like to know when Savage changed trigger guards ?

Depends on which time, a few years after they went to center feed ( 4.40 instead of 4.25 ) and I think ( not 100% sure ) again after the bottom bolt release was put on the action.
