Savage pillars

Aluminum spacers from McMaster-Carr. I remove the trigger group and cut the relief in the rear pillar after epoxy.

I buy aluminum or steel tubing from the Hobby Store

might i ask what hobby store and what size of tubing? im kinda getting bored setting around in this shitty weather and thought i might pick some up today and i can get to work on it this weekend....

The store I get them from is called Hobby Town. They have a large collection in different diameters and lengths. The ones I buy are 3/8 in diameter, I believe, and are 12" long. I buy both the steel and aluminum but the aluminum are easier to work with. I spin them on a mini lathe to put small grooves in them before installing in enlarged action screw hole in the stock.
I don't know what these are used for as far as a hobby goes but they are located near the hobby trains. They have a very nice small track train set up with several trains and all the accessories they sell to go with it. Easy to watch for a long time. Hope this helps. Might try a Google search in your area.

So, the company I ordered the aluminum tubing through emailed me yesterday saying it was out of stock and it would be a week before it was in ( this was yesterday) ... so I called and canceled my order... I then went to some hobby stores today.. no luck... I finally called the place where I normally get my steel from.. well we could order you a piece in but it won’t be till next week mon if supplier has it or Friday if not.... we do have 1/2” aluminum bar stock though ... that’s only $1.2 a foot... sold .. making my own... done waiting.. now just have to drill stock and shorten them to actual length needed and have at it :)
