Savage nut socket

I have a few of the NSS Barrel Nuts and they are really nice! I still like the one that
M-61 posted. Might just try one in my next salvage project.

I mis-read the ad. I thought this was a socket to fit OVER the Savage barrel nut for removal/installation. I don't really care for those stamped steel ones even though I have not had a problem

The Bighorn nut shows to be a 12 point engagement. I wonder if it is made to fit a standard 12 point box end wrench of about 1 1/8 or 1 1/4" diameter?
The savage nut has 8 points of engagement.

This is the 12 point

Then they also have their new invisible nut set up

Is there anyone that does make a socket to fit over a Savage barrel nut? I have no problem with the stock Savage nut except with the tools I've run across to remove it because of the minimal engagement in the slots. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like a socket with slots to fit the most common Savage nut (at the moment) would be a nice secure tool.

I've never had a problem with standard slotted (splined) Savage barrel nut when using the NSS wrench, either in removing a factory installed nut, or installing the factory or NSS precision nut. I typically put 70 ft lbs of torque on the nut and never get any deformation or tearing of the slots. They're not expensive, and seem to be very well made. JMOP
