In that case, You glue another piece of walnut on and then rasp it into shape and then sand/finish.

It should be pretty easy too because the wood already sits proud of the tang.

I am aware of how to repair a piece of wood. This is not my first rodeo.

This is not my gun. I was only asked to get it to function.

I've owned several of these over the past 50 years. My favorite was a synthetic stocked one. 30-40 Krag over 12 gauge 3 1/2" Magnum with choke tubes. Never should have let that one get away.

After handling this guy, I might keep an eye out for one for myself.
