Problem with a Savage

I have a Savage 111 7mm Rem Mag that was brought into the shop that is having the light primer strike issue. From what I have been reading is a very common problem with the new firing pin design of Savage. I see where Gun Shack sells an upgraded spring kit to fix the issue but is currently out of stock. My question is can I completely change out the bolt with an older style, verify headspace and be done with it? I have a long action bolt here at the shop, I just need to swap bolt heads. Thanks.

Complete old style pin, cocking sleeve and BAS.
I gave up on the new style pin and went adjustable.
Some parts @ Gun Shack, some @ Midway.
