Savage model 14 build?

I have a Savage model 14 I bought new a few years ago and its been
collecting dust. I was thinking of using it as the basis for a build. Is that a
good idea? That action worth the trouble? Looking for opinions.

Thanks

I have built 6 of them with pre fit shilens and mcgowens and criterions. They all outshoot the best factory varmint rifles .Maybe not all but the majority. You have a perfect base reciever to do the work on. Contact Jim Briggs at:1-763-682-4296. Jim has some of best advice and products to help you with your build. Stockade stocks makes custom stocks at bargain price's and I love his 5/8th's bolt handle for extra leverage and his lift kit to smooth up the bolt.

Thanks Jon for the positive reply. I was beating myself up for not
getting a model 12 originally. Now I'm off and running. Knowing
how I operate the 12 would have been rebuilt anyway.

Did you work your receivers?

Joe

I did not rework my recievers and it doesnt seem to matter that much for the shooting I do.You can get a ptg bolt and have it fitted. It would then be less wobly and probably smoother. Correcting reciever threads would mean you couldmt use prefits and thats why I dont mess with threads.
