savage mod 10 22-250 varminter with 1 in 12 twist

Been playing around with this, for F class at 250 yards...
Have been using 55 grain V max so far...

Wondering if anyone else has this rifle and what their accuracy
may be so far,and what they have used..

Have been using H 380 and tried Re-15......4064 did nothing for me..
And what is the heaviest bullet you think will work with the 12 twist...Thanks

Howdy !

Based on my past .22-250 experiences, for a 1-12 you might wanna try:
- Sierra .224" cal 65SPBT
- Slower powders than H380( higher load densities ),
such as: WW760 ( H414 same stuff ), VV160, IMR4350; and perhaps I4007

Be sure to give LR Mag primers a try. I had best results w/ FED LR Magnum Match

I have a Model 12 with a 26" bbl with a 1:12 twist. I have had very good results with 55 gr. Sierra BK bullets behind 38 gr. of H380. You should try both standard and magnum primers to see which produces the best results in your rifle. The Sierra's performed better than the V-Max in my rifle but that may not be the case for your rifle.

I don't think I am going to be going that high to do any target shooting.....But thanks
anyway..And besides where would you hang your target.

Where is F-Class shot at 250 yards?

NRA minimum Reduced Target is 300 yards.......

i have a savage lrpv 22-250 12 tw..i tried various powder and bullet weights , to include h 380..55gr bullets shot just fair..h380 was a waste of time ( went Thur a 1/2 lb w/ nothing to brag about..then i tried 52gr amax & ww748....3-.4 raw groups..not corrected for bullet diameter..50 gr vmax shot about the same..down side temp sensitive in cold weather.i shoot a monthly club score match..this load and this gun was a winner..after shooting 500-600 shots the group opened up to about .5..good varmint barrel ..but not in this score match..so i sold the barrel and recoil lug and bought a criterion barrel..a 9tw..which i am having a time getting it to shoot..but 52 gr amax..ww748..ww lrp..remington brass..worked in that savage 12tw barrel
