ThanksThere’s reviews in the Savage section of Rimfire Central
Thank for the infoI own a lefty one. It's a second to third tier accurate rifle at a relatively low price point.
I don't measure groups, I shoot scores.
My btvss(and my mkI fvt) will shoot mini-palma f-class scores into the mid to high 90's
My annies will shoot up to 100s in f-class.
The mk I as a sling rifle is better than me, not much point in spending more.
So a very accurate rifle for what it is.
Compared to utility 22s it's a laser.
Won't win matches in unlimited class against rifles costing multiples, duh.
That (boyds) thumbhole stock is attractive and very nice for prone shooting unlike the plastic cheapo savage stocks that are good for sh-t.
Stainless is nice. The major niche for mine now is winter practice
worst problem is failure to extract mostly with particular ammos
Otherwise I highly recommend it.
Thanks. I am looking in to this one for my son to shoot in some local bench rest match’s that some friends Have for fun.happy to try to answer any particular questions
Seems to shoot all good ammos well but struggles to extract cci and federal
center-x seems like a particularly good match
doesn't quite feel like the savage 'deserves' tenex
learned to shoot 22 at 200yards with mine, rails are easily available
Thanks for the infoI too own a BTVLSS (lefty), it's not fair to compare it to an Annie. I have a 1712 Anschutz and it was well over 3X the price of my Savage, and yes it will outshoot the Savage. But the Savage don't have the ejection problems the Annies have, and the action is just as slick.
My Savage has shot under 1" at 100 yards using cheap Federal American Eagle hollow points, not saying it'll do it every time, but it does shoot it well.
Don't be afraid of the Savage, IMO they are good rifles for the $$$. If you buy it, install a Apachee trigger kit or better yet a Rifle Basix trigger.
