I just picked up a Savage Mark II BTVS yesterday. Out of the box I needed to sand down the barrel channel a bit where the barrel was rubbing on one side. I adjusted the Accutrigger as low as it would go. I don't have a gage, either a trigger is light enough or it is not. This one is borderline, I may mod it later with a lighter spring anyway. Plenty of videos out there on how to do it. I torqed the action screws to 15 in lbs on reassembly. The trigger is pretty smooth straight from the box. I have a 20 MOA one piece scope rail on order since I do want to stretch it out to 200 - 300 yards. Today I fired about 140 round through it. Initially I had a some fail to extracts. Probably 5 out of the first 15. But after 20 or so rounds everything was fine. No fail to fires. Bolt throw is acceptable but not great, I expect it to wear in after the first few hundred. I was planning on shooting at 50 Yards but with a steady 5 to 10 MPH wind with gust even higher I decided 25 yards would make a good break in and narrow down the choices. All groups were measured edge to edge, if you want CTC subtract .20 from all measurements
It's a cheap date at close range, I imagine the higher price ammo wil prove its worth at 100 and out. Of all ammo tested the only two it really did not like was the Fiocchi Winter Match and the SK Rifle match, everything else averaged 1 MOA CTC. I am planning another range trip Friday morning and testing at 50 yards and possibly tweaking the action screw torques as needed
