Savage MAGNUM action....

Is this available yet...or can I alter a long action 7MM mag or such...My buddy john wants another savage..but much larger caliber..he is fond of the 338 rum. is that correct??...Can we assemble one from available parts ?? mike in ct

It would appear that "standard" magnums, like the 7mm Rem. Mag., 300 Win. Mag., etc. will fit in the standard long action. The newer "ultra" magnums used a larger receiver and larger diameter shank on the barrel.

Not sure if you go to SavageShooters.net, but some of the most knowledgeable Savage savvy guys hang out there.
