savage long action 7mm rsaum

I am thinking about putting together a savage based 7mm rsaum. I was wondering if the long action small shanked barreled action will be okay to use with the biggger bolt head i will need to use. I know savage went to the large shank on the wsm's but was wanting to check and see if the small shanked action will cause any issues with the bigger bolt head or pressure issues.

i built the same round on a short action small shank. never had any problems with it. i wouldn't hesitate to do it again... think of it this way if you add material to the chamber ( large shank) then you take it away from the action, if the material come from the chamber then it adds more to the action (small shank).

Thanks for the info. i think I'm going to try to find a long action to throat for the 180' or even possibly the new berger 195 coming out.

I've got a 7 SAUM on a savage small shank long action. The barrel was done by Fred at SSS. I specifically asked a couple different gunsmiths if they had any concerns about a SAUM-diameter case in a small shank action, and I was told I had nothing to worry about.
