300 RSAUM norma brass to 7mm RSAUM

Was wanting to get some help on stepping down the 300 rsaum norma brass to 7mm rsaum. I have went ahead and chamfered the outside of the necks and annealed all the new brass. I tried a couple on a forester full length 7mm rsaum die and seems to be a big step and lubed well with the imperial wax. would it be best to get a 300 rsaum redding neck bushing die and make say .005-.008 steps until the last step and full length size the last out where the bushing die does not. I don't mind screwing some brass up but the cost of this stuff got my attention. from what i have seen the brass is going to be the same length on the 300 norma sized to the 7mm as the new nosler 7mm rsaum brass, but a little cheaper on the 300 norma. Thanks Bill

All I do to mine is run it through an rcbs 7 saum neck sizer
Been doing it this way since I started shooting the saum and never had a problem

Get a Redding or RCBS. The Forester dies run a little too much under sized. I had the same problem with the Forester being too small and ruining brass. With the Redding can size down in one step.

HI Bill...I have necked several other cals from 30 to 7mm/.284 (308/7mm-08---30-06/280/270) with one step and have no problems,,,,,but if you are having truble you may try the old trick of using your 7mm seater die as an intermediate step,,,,Roger

If you want to do it in two steps, get yourself a 7mmSAUM body die. That will give you the first step. I have done it in one step but prefer two. The main advantage of Nosler over Norma is the case weight ES. I've done 450 pieces of the Nosler SUAM brass and the extreme spread in case weights in every box of 25 has been under a grain. Norma will be 2 or 3 times that. So if you get 150 pieces from the same lot they will be within a grain also. My Nosler 300 SAUM and Nosler 7SAUM brass trim to the same length after the 300 is necked down. This stuff has been so hard to find that I take what I can get.

Thanks for all the help, this is what i wanted to hear. I went ahead and ordered a bushing die and going to try to do it in a couple steps, Then come back on it last step with the full length die. this stuff to hard to find and a little pricey to be doing much culling on my account. Thanks for all your help. Bill

Thanks tony for the heads up. I already got 100 of the 7 saum nosler and 100 of the 300 norma to try. Looks like a may need to stay with the nosler. Bill
