7MM RSAUM build????

In process of buying components to build a 7mm RSAUM to shoot 1000 yds IBS matches. Have on order a Brux 1-8.5T, 32"long, 1.450 dia. barrel, already found a set of used Redding dies and a PTG reamer. My problems is finding brass and my question is would you continue with the build and and wait for brass to come available. Already have a 284 Shehane HEAVY gun and a 284 winchester light gun to shoot next year but for some reason i just have to have a 7mm RSAUM.

I was planning on doing a 300RUM with norma brass however after a year of back order when they finally came back in stock I abandoned the project and moved components over. Personally in my future I won't do a project until I am reasonably certain I can get all components within 5 months.

About a year ago I built my first 7 saum & brass was no easier to come by. I then built another & have one more in the works. I shoot wings off flies at 100 yards because the 7 saum makes it easy. You beg on every forum until you get some brass, then you beg somemore. If I can find brass, anyone can. ps if you don't want to just push the fly through the paper, you need to lead them a hair

Hey Buster,
You are right. If you want brass and you look everywhere you'll find brass is in sufficient supply for the likes of us. Heck you can even buy once fired and learn to anneal.

Very nice shot! I'm in the process of doing some testing with 180 Hybrids and H4831.

I really love my 7SAUM, it is shooting lights out with a 8.5 twist 31" krieger on it. Get norma brass if you watch classifieds long enough it will pop up. it's the only way to go with brass.

Some use 300 SAUM brass and neck down. Case will be a hair shorter, but workable.

Also, I keep an eye out for loaded 7mm SAUM at gun shops. Found them collecting dust on the shelf for $32 a box. Shoot it as is for practice rounds or pull bullet and reload....

Trailrider, thats the exact combo I'm shooting through mine, it's built on a long action and throated for the bergers.
