I have a Savage F-Class in 6br. It has the 30" barrel. Would that be too long and heavy for a choate stock? Would it be a good idea to have it cut down to 27 or 28"? I want to be able to switch stockes for tact matches and hunting,but i also want to shoot f class. Let me know what you guys think.
Savage in a Choate stock?

Depends on which Choate stock you are considering. I have the Ultimate Varmint stock and love it. Do I think it's the best thing out there; no. Would I spend 6-700 dollars for a replacement; not a chance. I would think this stock will be able to accomplish all well. Not great but all equally well.
I just bought another rifle with a McMillan A-5 and I'm still getting used to it. I am a lot more comfortable shooting my Choate but I've been shooting it for amost a decade now.
I just realize I'm getting older. Not old, just older (almost 29).
I cannot comment on the 30" barrel. My rifle wears a 26" Shilen and I still toy with the idea about adding a little weight to the rear of the rifle.

on the main 6mmBR site guns of the week. If a Choate is good enough for Russell Simmonds the UK, European and World F/TR champion with a Barnard S action and heavy 30" match barrel, I reckon it'll do equally well with the Savage 12 F barrelled action.
I used to shoot with a fellow with a Remington 700 / 28 or 30" heavy Border barrel in 6BR in this stock, and it did very well indeed too.
Good choice with the Savage by the way.
