Choate tactical stock

The Choate tactical stock for $220 delivered looks pretty good to me now for a budget priced prone stock. I have went through the Richard's stocks before and did the finish/inlet work, but the Choate would be so simple for my increasingly arthritic hands. The Choate stock has a built in bottom rail and I think it might be fine for an M700 SA. I love to shoot and I want to continue doing it. I have to go through the knee replacement in January but I will endure that and keep trying.

Hi John,I have a 6.5 swede on a remington action in a choate sniper stock,I don't have very big hands so the grip could be a little smaller to be ideal but I find its not a problem to shoot. It is fairly heavy however,I wouldnt want to carry it around all day.You might surf the web a bit,I think you could find a better price. You might also consider the varmint model, same basic configuration, grip is a little thinner, longer transition on the fore-end than the sniper model. Stockeys Stocks has a Bell and Carlsen varmint tactical that you might look at also,I put one on another swede, its very comfortable to shoot and considerably lighter, still has a pretty vertical grip that I like.Hope this helps. Jim

I think he's talking about the NEW Choate Tactical stock, they made it look like a MCM and lighter than the old Maj. Plaster Ultimate Sniper stock. I have one already with a Sav. 112 BT in it, bedded, I added a cheek piece, the Choate Adjustable Butt Plate and some weight to ballance out the 30" tube. After the first of the year I'll get another ordered for a Rem. 700 SA for my new .308 Win F/TR build, again with the Adjustable Butt, cheek piece and if weight allows I'll through in a recoil reducer.

Almost looks like this:

BTW you can order direct from Choate.

Thanks Mike,I realized that also after I sent my reply,I looked at the Choate tactical stock also, the B&C seemed like a better fit for me,but pricewise I think both are good deals(I got the varmint tactical rather than the full-on adjustable model)Jim
