Have a savage ftr. Have a sightron 10-50x60 scope in the mail. Going to buy burris tactical zee rings. Do I need mediums or high rings? Thanks everyone.

In this AccurateShooter.com Burris review they recommend the Burris 30mm Extra High Rings for a NightForce or other scopes with a large front objective. A 10-50x60 Sightron has a large 60mm front objective which is larger than the NightForce objectives which go up to 55mm.

On my Savage FTR I have a EGW 20 MOA base and EGW Tactical .990 Medium Rings with a Sightron 10-50x60 and the front objective is extremely close to the barrel, almost unable to get the front lense cover on. When I purchased my Savage F-Class and another Sightron 10-50x60 I again went with the EGW 20 MOA base but decided to use the EGW Tactical 1.275 Tall Rings. I am not sure how these sizes relate to Burris products.

jred 2002,
The bell on that scope is most likely too big for medium rings. Like others have said, you probably need Extra Highs. Been there, done that. I know with a Weaver T36 you need Extra Highs to clear a bull barrel.

I have the Mod 12 FTR with the same scope, but with a Warne 20 MOA base. I used the Warne QD High rings. The medium did not give me enough room for a lens cap and or mirage shield. Dont know about Burris, but you can look at the charts and compare to the Warne.

If anybody has the same question. The burris highs are what I got. A little bit high. But no way medium would fit. X high is way to high
