YOUR savage 223 1/7 twist could very easly win a F/TR you may have to get your throat a little longer, only bullets to use are the 90gr match & VLD bergers and possible the JLK 90s if you can get them. You run the balistics on the 90gr bergers with 551BC vs .308win with 155 to 185 Begers and see results the 223 wins hands down. You will usually shoot higher scores to 600 its so much easyer to shoot the 223 with 90gr vs the 185gr 308 "RECOIL"
last year at Connaught the long range chalange 7,8,900m was won by the 223 with 90gr by a good margine. and out scored the last 2+15 at 900 shot the second highest score incuding all but one F/O guns. you have to really hone your reloading skills for the 223
