I don't mean to be offensive but that statement about a Savage receiver never needing scope base bedding is a joke?

No offense taken. I only meant I've yet to come across one that needed bedding under the scope rail, and I've had my hands on many Savages... err... I mean Many Savage rifles.

I have not worked on many Flat Back Savage receivers. maybe those could be more prone to a scope base bedding job.

Vortex Golden Eagle 15-60 with the ECR-1 reticle sells new $ 1,500 or less and plenty of guys using it with good reviews.

For a base, I've come to really like the Weaver 20moa. It has a integral recoil lug and all the ones I've mounted have a precise fit. You can find them for less that $ 40 !!! Made in the USofA.

I like the EGW 10 or 20 min MOA, just make sure it's long enough to give you eye relief needed. On one rifle, I had to add an adjustable stock butt so I could mount my scope. Wish all rifle stocks had them.

The 12 PTA does not have a cutout on the top for a recoil lug that is on the Weaver. I used a Leupold 20 MOA on mine and it fits tight.

I have never used locTite but I do find that bedding a base on precision rifle it beneficial. Everybody has an opinion but it is best to listen to a champion shooter not guys like me on a keyboard.

You may want to look at the Murphy Precision rails. They are available in stainless or titanium. Black polymer coating or bead blasted finishes. He'll even do polished. Too bad he is not making scope rings anymore. fantastic work.

Not to offend anyone here but don't choose aluminum. in the past, had too many issues with aluminum.

I've owned many many Savage Target Actions over the years and l have always used Ken Farrell bases. Also I have never bedded a single one and I've had quite a few 1/4 MOA shooters. I must admit that I always pull off the Savage barrel though and go with a prefit Shilen or a custom.

Sounds like your running a nightforce scope I run their rings and bases on my savages. My remmington runs badger and when I move the scope from the savage to the rem I have no problem.
