Savage Evolution trigger

I have been fooling with triggers to replace Savage accutrigger for years now and remain less than pleased. Does anyone have experience with the Evolution trigger installed at Savage Shooters Supply? I want a Jewell for my Savages or soon there will be room for new actions in safe.

Both my Savage triggers have been replaced with the RifleBasix. On the advice of a friend I tried the SSS trigger and it had the same problems as the Accutriggers. It was changed out to the RifleBasix Sav.2 model on my 12BVSS & that one has been excellent. Yes, I also wish for Jewell to make them for Savage, but until they do the R.B. is my solution.

I have the Evo. trigger on a T & T single shot action from SSS. It is a nice trigger, set at about 2 oz. and it has no safety. The only way to get the Evo. trigger is to have SSS T & T your action then they will install it. All together it would run about $325.00 and a very long wait.

Good trigger. Wait is indeed excruciatingly long. Also, you have to relieve some material from the rear pillar to clear the trigger.

If you guys will, write x-treme products(site sponser) and tell them that a savage trigger is way overdue.I just bought a riflebasix-2 as well for now and hope it is better than the sss comp trigger. They are ok however I cant get the tiny bit of creep out of it and the trigger weight adjustment does little to nothing.

I was not impressed with the SSS Evolution Triggers that I have seen. The Rifle Basixs Sav2 are not safe set below 8 oz. Jewell has done research and development on a Savage trigger. They have shelved the project and I have been told by several that there were two reasons liability and demand. I would incourage all who want to see a Jewell trigger for Savages to call and/or write to them encouraging them of the demand. They certainly can work out the liability issues.

I have two 12F Savages with Evolution triggers. Both were installed and timed by SSS. One is dependable at 4 oz., the other at 5, as measured by my Lyman scale. I also own a number of Jewell triggers and two Remington BR 2 oz. The Evolution is not equal to a correctly adjusted Jewell. That may be an inherent characteristic of the Savage firing pin. The Jewell in my Viper SS, installed and adjusted by Curtis at Stiller, breaks like a thin glass rod at 1.5 oz. It just does not get any better.

All that said: I have shot the Savage/Evolution combination effectively in competition and from the bench.
