Savage bind mag> single shot

I am looking for some innovative ideas on how you have converted a Savage model 12 blind mag over to a single shot.

I dont like the small amount of action to stock contact at the rear action screw. There is a groove cut out to hold the metal clip which holds the blind mag. I would like to bed this area solid and totally eliminate the blind mag.

I am in the process of putting several together now and figured i need to resolve what in my mind is not a great design idea.

I fill the mag well with a walnut block that is epoxied in place. I then epoxy a single shot sled to the top. Sometimes I screw it down. I used Winchester crossbolts on my last project. I have completely bedded the sled and action together and have free floated the sled and bedded the action like I would normaly. I haven’t really noticed any difference in accuracy using either method.

What he said, except I find it easier to just use a single shot adapter/sled with a little expoy to attach it to the receiver. Also, you may want to add shot or other lead to the blind mag hole. Weigh your rifle with bipod and bring it up to weight for the class you are shooting.

what ^ linked was me. I got tired of either epoxying sleds to actions of epoxying the sled into stocks. So I designed a single shot follower that I can 3d print that matching the contour of the action to fit in a stock without a magazine inlet. I also designed one with a box below it to work inside of stocks that have internal magazine inletting.
