Savage 12F/TR 223 30in barrel 1 in 7 twist,, how does it shoot?

Savage 12F/TR 223 30in barrel 1 in 7 twist,, looking at buying one,, anyone already have one and can tell me how it does?
I have a savage 12FV 223 in 26in. 1in9 have loads worked up and shoots average .4 and better, will do better as I get better, I live in Wyoming and plan on using this out to and past 1000 yrds,,

Mine shoots better than I can. Awesome rifle for 300-600yd matches...

...but honestly, you're in Wyoming and want to use a .223 Rem out past 1k? Having grown up in western Nebraska, I have some idea of the usual wind level in that part of the country and I have to ask... are you nuts?!?

actually yes i am,, got 22-250 AI and 7mm-08, but love the challenge of 223,, plus fell in lust with the way 9 twist shoots, and of a morning P-Dog shooting winds stay calm for a while

what i'm really trying to do is decide between the 7mm F/TR and the 223,, gonna get both, but will only be able to get1 this spring and the other come winter, or else the powers that be (wife) will throw a fit if I buy em both now

I bought the 223f/tr and it shoots great and with the weight it hardly moves when you pull the trigger.. Tightest groupes I have ever shot. I didnt know savage makes a factory 7mm f/tr? I also bought the 308 f/tr but like the 223 alot better

I have two, one LRPV with a 26" barrel that is a proven 1/2 moa gun. Last Fall at MSSA in Memphis I shot a 600 prone match with a 594-28X with this gun. Last week I shot 10 rounds into .464" at 100 yds. This gun has about 900 rounds on it.

I also have an F/TR with 30" barrel. I have tested some RL-15 and XBR 8208, approximately 300 rounds. Then I discovered the scope I was using had some windage problems so I sent it back and now I have to retest all over again. However, the XBR 8208 showed promise at 100 yds. It has also had the firing pin bushed by Gre-Tan rifles, has a stockade bolt handle and lift kit. Drilled for Karsten Cheek piece.

Both of my guns are for sale. I am going to a .308 custom gun for F/TR and am selling my .223's If you are interested, maybe we can do business.

Chris

That's some great shooting! Looks like the lettering on the trailer says "something electric". Are you an electrician?

Great shooting with the same load I use in my Savage 112BT 1-9" High Power rifle.

One of those friends from MO wouldn't happen to be Denny Russell would it?
