Savage 110 Tactical 25-06... should I buy?

To the op.. buy it.. if you dont like it list it on here for 500 dollars and it will be gone the first day.. to some if it isn't the best money can buy it isn't any good..

While someone may be willing to spend $500 on a used Savage, that person wouldn't be me.
Don't get me wrong, i'm always looking for a good used Savage, i have no problem finding them in the aforementioned $300 range.

Could be a fun project but there is a quicker less costly approach to getting u in a 25-06 that will shoot good. IMHO.

Maybe not. I was referring to the cost of buying it and then changing things to make it shoot better if in fact it would not shoot to satisfaction. Sorry.

For $300 if you don't like it you can always sell it... Just look at it carefully before buying... You can't compare a $300 rifle to a $3000 rifle and if you're buying for hunting and or playing around then why not....

Don’t fall for that one. The old guys always send the new guys looking for one. In carpentry, it’s the board stretcher.

And my wife's 110FP in 223 just has me scratching my head. 223 in a long action???

For quite a while, Savage made all calibers on the long action by boxing in the magazine. Winchester did the same in the pre-64 models. So all kinds of short action calibers on long action Savages from that period of time. Great buy for the OP, have one just like it that I put in a BVSS laminated stock -- shoots great. And BTW, mine has a factory 3 way adjustable trigger; this one might also. Don't think the game notice a difference between a 24" and 26" barrel.

Our shop used to send the new guy around with a toilet plunger to check for loose floor tiles.. always good for a few laughs.

Anyway, I got the info I was looking for and no mentions of glaring flaws with this model so today I’ll see about making it mine.

Maybe afterwards I can find a multi tool that stretches barrels and wire, provided I can find some of that special oil. Thanks

My wife's 110FP also has the factory adjustable trigger.
But oddly enough is the only plastic stocked Savage i've ever owned that does not have pillars.

I bought an old 110V in 223, just to try a Savage and see first hand what the fuss was about. The gun is a laser with my hand-loads. It shot so well, I made a stock for it.

I came across what I think is a very good deal ($300) on a pre-owned Savage 110 Tactical in 25-06. I've wanted a 25-06 since the first time I shot one twenty years ago and this might be the time. I'm having a hard time finding much info on this rifle in particular, so I am hoping to tap into the wealth of knowledge here on this particular Savage.

What I know: Model 110 Tactical, 24" heavy barrel contour, blind magazine, synthetic stock. No round count, but shows virtually no wear and bore looks excellent to the naked eye. Date of manufacture = Nov. 1st, 1995 through the end of 2002 (pre AccuTrigger)

What I don't know: Twist rate (1:10?) and specific model. Is it a 110-FP? Are they any specific drawbacks to this rifle?

For $300 I'm inclined to go for it unless there are some reason not to. If it shoots poorly I'd assume there are no hangups finding a new trigger, re-barrel, etc. I would be using it for hunting/varmints.

Your first paragraph says it all. You've wanted one for 20 years since you first shot one. Don't really see any more reason to wait. 300.00 is Incredibly good for a rifle you've wanted for 20 years. Pull the trigger...NOW !!!

Yes, buy it. I picked up the same model savage in another caliber that had 798rds through it when i bought it and the first time out at 100yds from the bench It did a five shot dime or maybe less group from a $29 MTM pistol rest using my shoulder for the rear bag.
I kept that target because that's the best i have been able to do with my eyes like they are now. That model rifle can make bug holes from the factory.

No deal is never a bad deal. You can look at more rifles now.
