Savage 10 FP stock

Infrequent Shooter

Gold $$ Contributor
I have a Model 10, 7mm-08. blind magazine, flat receiver, 4.4 (corrected, 4.27 see below). spacing, heavy barrel. Shoots lights out.
I want to upgrade stocks. Pretty difficult to do.
I don't want to spend $ for McMillan stock.
thinking about buying HS Precision Varmint Professional. This would leave an open space in bottom of rifle. I would not be adding external magazine or the bottom metal etc.

Thoughts on feasibility of rig and shooting one round at a time?
Also looking for floorplate for old short action. They were not made with one.
Boyds is an option for laminated stock.
looking for some good options. thanks in advance

Older Savage flat back short actions are 4.27 spacing not 4.4. HS builds blind mag stocks for those rifles, as do others. You can buy a single shot follower for the mag, or fill the mag well in the stock to run it single shot if you want.

Thank you both. I just now used calipers and it is much closer to 4.27. This makes more sense to me now. Does anyone in these parts have/use the HS Precision stocks for the Savage SA? Great info on aluminum Oryx stocks.
