I agree with CJ6, I wouldn't consider a 22-250, unless I knew the round count, And it was from a reliable source. I would price it as if it had to be re-barreled.Looking at one in a local shop. I think its a 75 III in 22-250. Above average condition with a Zeiss Conquest 3-10x50. It is a heavy barrel and the blueing looks good to. No idea of round count. What's it worth???
In my opinion, If it's real nice 800-1000And what is the has to be re-barreled value?
I had to turn one away last fall for that very reason. Will they let you borescope it? That would be a determining factor for me. You can have a beautiful gun and have a cooked barrel.
Years ago I bought an A1 lightweight 17 Rem, at a giveaway price. Barrel wasn't worn out, but loaded with copper, took a week to get it all out. Those very skinny barrels heat up quick, after 3 rounds it was not just warm, it was hot to the touch. No matter, I bought the thing to rebarrel into a MachIV. Sold that skinny barrel for $100. Except for that thin barrel, those are very nice rifles that can be made into something else.I ran across an AI lightweight in .17 rem at a gunshow. Seemed familiar to me. I asked if I could borescope it and all of a sudden it wasn’t for sale any longer..buyer just left to go to the ATM…ok. Oh! Hey! Is this so and so’s rifle? I thought I recognized it. All of a sudden, I knew why they didn’t want me looking down the barrel, he had put thousands of rounds through that gun. I can only imagine what the nonexistent rifling looked like. It was still on the table the next day…
