WANTED Sako Riihimaki 222(if spelled right)

Ok guys here it is,
I know absolutely nothing about this gun other than the cosmetics. It is up for auction and I want to bid on this gun. The stock is not the most beautiful thing I have ever seen but at the same time , it is not the worst that I own. This gun has been hunted with but shows no sign of abuse. Overall condition of metal should be around 90 percent ,maybe. No rust anywhere.
I have no idea how many rounds have been shot and no way to get that information.
I just saw that it is a 222 and I always wanted one.
What do you guys think and I know I didn't give any information that is worth very much.
Overall condition is not really that bad since it will be a knock around anyway.
Are these guns worth anything? Pros and cons.

I assume you mean the L-46 action. I have three of them. Two are in the original configuration. The third is a single-shot L-46 action built into a 1960's era bench gun. All three are astoundingly accurate with 50 gr slugs and IMR4198. The Riihimaki guns are svelte and perfect for walk-around varmint hunting. The bench gun has also taken a lot of ground squirrels and rockchucks, but it's not what you'd call a light gun!

Post some pics if you can. I might be able to tell you more about it.

Do not know what action it has but it is a repeater. You are right, it is not light due to the heavy barrel.

I own 2 of them. One was my Grandfather’s and is in mint condition, with the peep sight.
I bought another one so I didn’t abuse Grandpa’s. It looked perfect on the outside. Inside, it was shot out. Severely pitted boltface and badly firecracked three inches up the barrel.
Be careful! At least get a pic of the boltface. Barrels can be shot out or rust pitted on old guns.
I’d put a value of $1000 to 1200 on a minty one.

Some manufacturers used the sako action to make other name brand rifles. Mos
sberg and browning are 2. If a mosberg chances are it will have microgrove rifling, and more likely shot out.
If it has a blind magazine it is newer than the one with a removable 3 shot mag.

I think you are talking about the MARLIN M322, NOT a Mossberg.

I have the L46 Sako that I rebarreled and for such a light rifle it is super accurate.

I don't know if Sako made a Heavy Barrel model so I would ask about that. I do know that Sako made a Deluxe model which was super nice.

You are correct. I have one that was shot out, the first 3 inches were smooth. A rebarrel and it is back to work in good shape.
