SAKO mod 75 barrel thread

Ok can someone tell me the thread on the mod75 SAKO is it Imperial or metric also the L579 some say the L579 is imperial and the 75 is metric someone out there must know.

Aussie,
You don't specify if the thread is open or not. If it is, you can compare it against a thread/pitch of known diameter using the three wire method and a set of mics. This is an accurate way to go. The 55 degree thread will give you a larger diameter reading than if the threads are 60 degrees because it sits higher in the "V". This will tell you Eng Vs Metric. You can check the pitch with a scale. Thread pitch gage is by far better. If the threads are already assembled and cannot be checked manually, as you say, you'll need some specs
LOL

Sako L579 is 1" X 16 tpi. The Sako 75's I have done are metric 1.5mm pitch & I think 26mm diameter, not sure of that diameter though.

I do not own a Sako but I have a stub print of the S-491 and also contains some info on other actions. Hope this is of some help... Rick
