Sako 8 twist 223

hi guys, ive just bought a new sako 85 8 twist 223,ive shot it once with okish results with 55 grains noslers and 75 amax, was just wondering if any of you use the same rifle and could share any loads with me and COAL,as i get MY COAL to be quite a bit longer than any standard 223 load you read about

cheers pal,i am loading a 75 amax now,my lands are around 2.450 with the Amax,so ive already tried 2.415 2.420 2.425 2.430 with 23 grains of H4895..ime lucky to get an inch really at 100 yards so i havn,t found the spot just yet..do you think this bullet needs speeding up are touching the lands even

I run 75 AMAX at mag length over Varget, I tried to seat them longer to reach the lands and gave up....
what sort of accuracy do you get with that COL length pal with how much varget as it must be a compressed load.cheers simon

I have been shooting a Tikka T3 Sporter .223 1-8" 20" for the last 18 months (made in the same factory - same hammer forged barrel).

I have found it to be very accurate with 69gr SMK with 25.9gr N140 (@2.300"), 80gr SMK(@2.380"), 80gr Berger VLD (@2.400" .010" off) and laterly 82gr BT Fullbore (@2.400") - all shot in the 1/2" @ 100y range with some groups as low as the .15"s this lasted up until about 1450 rds at which point accuracy dropped off drastically. All of these combinations worked well out to 600y and I have shot the 80gr VLD out to 1000y in FTR at Bisley.

I am now awaiting its return with a new 28" Bartlein 1-7" barrel.

I have a gently used Tikka 1 in 8 on the way. I'm watching from the gallery. I own quite a few turd chuckers.😳😀😀

you are crazy (lol) if you shoot anything but Berger 80.5 . you could do ok with 75 gr amax but not likely. sorry the amax is ok for hunting, the berger is too solid for game performance. they both perform well.

To be fair I shoot a few 53 gr bthp on occasion through my Sako made tikka in 1:8 when I want to watch things blow up.
