Safety glasses...

I see once again we have the post in the daily bulletin about safety glasses... Growing up nobody wore safety glasses shooting but now I do... So far they have saved me from getting hit square in the eye by flying brass that would have really hurt. And just the other day while shooting skeet I had a piece of the broken clay hit me in the hand and brought blood... If it would have been in the eye I can only imagine what would have happened...

Awhile back we had a young girl from 4H practicing on the skeet range and we asked her if she needed glasses because she wasn't wearing them and she said ohhhhh I have some , thank you I forgot.. She put them on and the next time it her turn a piece of clay hit her right in the middle of the glasses... It happens all the time... I don't care for normal safety glasses but there's so many choices out there it's crazy.. My personal preference is Oakley prizm lenses in their shooting glasses... They really make the birds light up... Compared to a trip to the emergency room they are very cheap...

Took a 223 case to the glasses a few weeks ago. Tiny bloody scratch on the eyebrow, but more importantly, intact eyeball.

Mini-14 shooter. That overgassed sucker threw the brass about 20 yards to get me.

I’ve got gray colored glasses for trap shooting. What color or do you like just clear for rifle scope shooting?
Light color , non polarized for rifle , the color of the Oakley prizm shooting glasses is strange but makes colors pop especially orange clay birds... I really like them for all around glasses... I need to try a polarized version for skeet also... I run non polarized just in general because of scopes so I don't have to have more than one pair... But that didn't happen , I also have a regular pair in grey...

I wear glasses on a regular basis and will until my cataracts grow enough for surgery. Not enough to really affect my vision yet. My optometrist of many years and I talked it over when I first needed glasses. Her suggestion so that I didn't need dedicated prescription shooting glasses was for my lenses to be made of an industrial polycarbonate that is both highly scratch resistant and actually exceeds impact ratings while being relatively light. UV protection and gradient lens. Costs a bit more, but worth it. I don't remember the name of the lenses and her office is closed due to the Covid crisis, but I am sure most optometrists would know.

I have some amber colored Pillas. The lenses are great. Make everything pop out. They took some getting used to.

Two months ago I was shooting 9mm in my Sig P226. Factory ammo. One of the primers blew out. This took a chip off the extractor. But worse, it blew some particles into my face, striking my safety glasses. Had I not been wearing eye protection, I have no doubt I would have suffered serious eye injury.

Wear protection boys and girls -- all the time -- with all firearms.

Having had to wear glasses every waking hour since I was 12, I get a secret joy from reminding shooters at the club of the requirement for eye protection. We don't require ANSI safety glasses; only something between the eyes and the outside world. This allows me to wear my Knobloch glasses when shooting. An optician once told me, "You have the worst vision for doing what you do for fun." (I have about 1.5 diopters of astigmatism.)

Eyes are too important to not protect. I recently had cataract surgery in my second eye, so it was time for new shooting glasses as I no longer need correction for seeing, but still need prism correction for shooting with both eyes open due to a convergence issue with weak muscles. So, I bought a set of Decot's as I like their big frame. Since the last time I bought Decot's they now have am adjustable frame. In one position for clay sports and in the other for rifle shooting. I have them, but have not tried them yet. They do look great and I see through them well.

I got to invest in some good glasses. The cheap autoparts store safety glasses ive been wearing i find distort my vision. Ive looked a pilla and like them but at well over 1000 dollars Canadian the cost is steep.
