Safe moving cost

I moved my Fort Knox with just 1 other guy and it was fairly easy. We just used a flat bed trailer and I bought a 24 pk of cheap golf balls and some softballs I had left over. Tilt one end up and throw 3-4 golf balls under it. Start pushing it on the golf balls and put more under it. It becomes so easy to roll and turn. When the golf balls come out the back, just move them to the front. I used the softballs when we tilted it on to the flat bed and rolled safe until I tied it down. Make sure to bring a few boards that you can screw down so the balls don’t roll or they will! Golf balls won’t compress with all the weight and you can use them later when you go golfing, just like the Egyptians move big block
They say that sections of PVC pipe will work wonders, too.

I hired a guy to move my ~1000 lb safe out of a house, hauled it a short distance, and put it in my new house. He brought it up about 8 stairs in the new house and moved into place inside a large closet. He had a device that "stair-stepped" it up the stairs one step at a time. This was 4 years ago in Houston. Price was $400. His full-time business was moving safes. I don't think he moves anything but safes. He really knew what he was doing!

Just today I took on the task of moving the wife's grandmothers 76" tall Grandfather clock 4 miles across town. 4 hours later it is set up and installed in our living room. I think moving safes, pianos and clocks could be a lucrative business!

Rented a box truck, lots of moving blankets, plenty of straps and an appliance dolly. Should have had some coffee first because there were plenty of times I had to bite my lip because she was so worried about it getting damaged.
