Tried some of the .30 cal sabots from EABCO, like the old Remington Accelerators. Loaded them with .224 55 gr Hornady SP over IMR 4198 per load data sheet. Shot them out of Winchester 94 in 30-30. Tried six different loads. Started at 50 yds, and couldn’t hit a paper plate. Moved up to 25 and finally hit the plate. They were shooting a bit high, so moved back to 50 and held lower. None of the six loads would put all 5 shots on a plate. I have never shot something so inaccurate.
Somewhat surprising since my Savage 220 will put three shots of Remington 20 ga accutips touching at 100 yds.
And this Winchester 94 will easily keep all the shots on a plate at 100 yds with any standard 150gr bullet.
So, anyone have good experience with these sabots? Curious if other powder or loading techniques would improve.
