RX Eyeglasses - Shooting Prone

I figured out that my day to day eyeglasses just dont cut it for serious shooting. The frames I have now, when shooting prone I cannot 'push up' enough to see thru. In other words I am veiwing around the top of the frame.

For those with glasses, what do you all use? I have just been surfing looking at Zeiss and Ranger...

Any info welcome...

Had good luck with the Ranger Xl fit my face good they heave adjustable nose piece interchangeable lens with lots of colors available. Got them thru Morgan Optical out of New York, great service. They have a web site you can check out

I have a very old pair of Sport Goggles by Liberty that I discovered while digging around in my closet. They have large lenses and sit high on the face. Surprisingly the RX is still usable for my distance vision although I wear trifocals nowadays. They made a huge difference in my shooting, 100/200 BR.

You can see by the pic that they have a large protective pad over the nose area and eyebrows. You can let a 30BR's scope whack you with impunity

Decot is another company worth looking into.

I got a pair of his years ago for sporting clays/trap/skeet shooting. Decot understands sporting glasses must sit higher on the face,and I think he also grinds the lens different than regular glasses to make sure you are looking thru the sweet spot when in position).
On the HY-LO model, the bridge is adjustable so you can set them to the correct viewing height.
If I remember correctly,I've had my Decot glasses for about 15 years), I think he has local eye doctors around the country that sell his glasses and who understand our viewing needs, so call Decot and ask if they have a list of eye docs in your area. If not, they should be able to get you into the best frame for your use thru the phone conversation.

And they have a huge selection of lens colors,and degrees of darkness w/in those colors). If you can't find a color/darkness from Decot to your liking, it most likely isn't available anywhere.

Since we only have one set of eyes and ears, we need to take care of the set we have. Quality shooting glasses do this, and help us see better to improve our scores/enjoyment.

I shoot NRA Prone and I use Decots with the movable bridge. I don't see any reason to change. There is some talk on Long-Range.com about setting the focal point 2X the distance from your eye to the front iris.

I like the Decot's too, since discovering them late in 2003.

With my prescription's needs they're not inexpensive when my correction needs updating, but that's true for regular eye wear also.

When necessary I only need order a new right lens... not an entire set of lenses & frames.

The Decot is a great shooting glass for the prone position and F-Class.

Get the International frame with the Hy-LO and Spring Hinge option. Much better,stronger) than the Hy-Wyde, IMHO. I have had both.
