My understanding is that they are or at least that is what I was lead to believe. I just finished making one last week for one of my rifles made to be an exact fit for the forend width. I'm heading to the range to try it out this morning and I'll let you know what happens.

I had heard yes also. http://www.international-benchrest.com/
Having read through here under downloads and rule book I could not find it addressed. I just ordered one Saturday thinking it was Ok. I would doublecheck however.

The one I made for a .223 Remington forend worked just great. It made the rifle a lot more "range friendly". The only downside was that it moved the forend of my rifle up enough that I was at the very bottom of the adjustment range of my front rest to get it level with my rear bag. Accuracy did go up a step. As a next step now I've made a spacer to go under my rear bag out of a similar thickness oak board with non-slip rubber on the bottom and four wooden three-quarter inch tall rails on the top to keep the bag from moving on the spacer. I don't know if this is legal or not. I've read and re-read the IBS rules and still don't have an idea. If anyone has seen a rear spacer like this in use I'd appreciate your input. I probably won't use the .223 for long range work but might want to use the spacer for other rifles where the range has some drop. Any ideas?
