Ruger Precision 6mm Creedmoor muzzle brake

just curious if any of the other RPR shooters have noticed that the muzzle brake has a very large hole from the factory? Emailed Ruger and the response was they use the same brake on the 6mm, 6.5mm, & the .308 rifles. My question is what part of "precision" means having a .342 hole in the muzzle brake for a 6mm rifle? It's a shame to spend that kind of money on a rifle and have a brake that's basically there for looks. Am I wrong here?

I figured it was just to save money, one size fits all! Guess I just expected more...

It has to be lined up and dialed in just like a chamber end if you want the proper clearance and not a strike. Remember if the brake is 2” long the runout at the threads is amplified the farther out you go. That rifle would double in price if they had to dial it in like that. Manufacturers have to figure out what really matters and how much that impacts the bottom line

just an opinion on rpr brakes (i have both 6mm and 6.5). after reading that same brake comparison i decided to cough up and replace the rpr stock brake with a little bastard, one of the highest rated brakes on there when you average all factors. i did both guns at the same time in the caliber specific versions.

i can’t feel any difference in perceived recoiled except that it’s “different”. weather it’s the sound (which is clearly louder), or what seems to be a faster “tighter” recoil impulse, it’s hard to describe. i do think it’s better about staying on target for follow up shots, but it’s not night and day better.

is it an improvement over the stock brake? maybe to probably... is it worth spending and addition $135 on for an $800 rifle?... probably not

I can tell you from personal experience the factory RPR 6mm creedmoor brake works well enough to notice a difference in felt recoil when not running it. I swapped barrels a few months back and shot about 100 rounds in one session without a brake and my shoulder was actually starting to get sore. With the brake, I never experienced this...

Given that test was from 2015, seems doubtful. If you really read the whole series of tests he did, you can sorta guess what a given brake will do based on its design. 30 degree ports rearward have higher recoil management than 90 to the sides, but are also louder to the shooter. ports that are verticle decrease muzzle rise but you can over-do it. spiral style brakes are the least effective of all.
